I recently added this restored numbers matching 1968 Bultaco Metralla 250 Model 23 Mk2 to my Bultaco collection. It makes a good mate for my other Metralla which is a 200cc Model 8.
Bultaco is best known for off-road motorcycles, but the Metralla was an international legend when it was released at it was the fastest two-stroke bike you could buy. The 1968 Bultaco Metralla 250 Model 23 Mk2 produced 32 horsepower at a time when many automobiles were making less! The Mk2 Metralla was in production until 1975, and it’s now a cult classic in the US. It weighed 225 pounds and the MSRP was $600. Shifting is on the right side and the shift pattern is 1 up and 4 down. The suspension, frame and brakes were considered best in class at the time. The twin leading shoe front brake is vented and tires are mounted on shouldered Akront alloy wheels.
